HP DVD Writer problems
I have an HP DVD Writer 200i on an 800 Mhz system w/ 512 MB RAM. One thing I use this drive for more than anything else, is file backup, so I use a +RW media a lot. Recently, I've been unable to backup files to RW media (CD and DVD), and I can't even erase/re-format the media (it doesn't matter what software I use, so this isn't a software issue). I keep getting messages that "Files on this drive are read-only."
If I look at the drive properties in Windows XP Pro, it doens't appear to have write properties. So, it appears that Windows doesn't seem to be recognizing the drive as a writeable drive (so, I guess it could be considered a software problem).
Has anyone else run into this, and, if so, how did you fix it? Uninstalling and re-installing the drive appear to have no effect.

Have you checked for any updates from HP? There is a possibility of a slight incompatibility.

Yes. I've downloaded all of the latest updates from HP. It was no help.
