Question
do they make SATA optical drives, etc.?

All I'm seeing is SATA hard drives. Is anything else made? I'd like to have a system without any PATA/IDE cables/drives in it!!!

I've been wondering the same but I'm pretty sure SATA is only for hard drives. It would be nice only having a small little cord to hook up your hard drive. And there are SATA -> IDE dongles but I'm not sure if it would work.

I don't think any SATA optical drives have been created yet. They don't actually push the limit of regular PATA connections anyway. Although just for convenience and air flow it would be nice if they did introduce SATA optical drives soon.

If all your after is the thinner cable than normal IDE, just get rounded cables, ok their not as small as SATA, but a heck of alot better than normal IDE cables...

If you want a performance gain... your looking in the wrong places cuz yeh like has been said optical drives arnt even close to needing sata bandwidth.
