| Question about Newegg
I'm a "new" Newegg customer. I started buying all my stuff from them back in August, and have been very satisfied. I'm just about ready to buy a new mod case from them.
Here is my question. Will Newegg do substitutions? There is an Aspire case I want that comes with a 420 watt powersupply. Total cost is $95 + $10 shipping. The case is one of their Alien series and is silver with black. This is the color I want, but I don't like the power supply. Aspire has a mod 500 watt power supply, that Newegg sells for 59.95 with free shipping. Another vendor offers this power supply as an upgrade to the case, just add 50.00. Will Newegg do the same?
My other choice is to get Aspire's Super Alien case which comes with the mod 500 watt power supply, but they don't have the same color scheme. It would have to be silver and red. The cost of this case is $148 with free shipping. It also comes with a fan control and temp LED in the front as an extra. I'm not that crazy about the red color. Rather have silver/black.
If I went with the case I want, and then ordered the mod 500 watt power supply, my total would be $154.95 plus $10 for shipping. With the rounded cables I want, and a few other goodies I'm looking at a $20 price difference, plus I'll have an extra power supply. I guess I just need another opinion. It's really not that much of a difference in price, but if Newegg would swap the power supplies and charge me an upgrade difference, that would be great.
Thanks,
Robert |

only way to find out would be to call them direct. With as many parts as they have in stock, there is no way I can see them being able to offer many options considering they aren't system builders, only suppliers.
You might have difficulty though, as their stuff is warehoused, and you'd end up having them opening boxes and repackaging, which I'm having a hard time thinking that they will go for this...just a hunch.
But, it never hurts to ask, and it's such a good company, I'd give it a whirl. |

Thanks RedFury. I've given it some thought, and I think I'll go ahead and order the additional power supply with the case I want. It's not that big a price difference, and I'm sure I'll find a use for the extra power supply. I have 3 other desktop computers in the house, and one of them could benefit from a new power supply
