looks good for a budget system
as far as the retail heatsink , if your not overclocking then it will be fine .
as far as the pc2700 it will be fine if your not going to overclock .
as far as the video . the fx5200 is about par with the 8500 maybe alittle better . but if you look at the newegg refurbished you might find a ti4200 for less than 75$ . if you can that would be the best bet . it is alot better than the ati 8500 hands down . teh best time to check the refurbished section at newegg is between 4-7 pm pacific time on monday and tuesday . they seem to post stuff there every weekday about that time . but those 2 days seem to be the 2 they post the most stuff.
and if you want to save alittle on the case look at www.amamax.com . you can get a case there for about 30$ shipped with a power supply i have used them alot and they are ok cases . make sure you check the promo section there also . sometimes you can find an even better deal there .
even if you don't go for the changes that i have said you have a pretty good budget system anyway .

That board is great at the normal $53.00 price but saving that extra $3.01 makes it the best deal out there on an nForce2 400 board. |

Thanks again for all the input. I have bee out of town but will purchase all components today. I'm am still not 100% clear on the video card we will choose. My buddy is suppose to get with me on that. It will be either the radeon 7500 @ $32 or the GeForce4 TI4200 that ArcticFox recommends. It just depends on if my buddy wants to save or not.
I will give an update once its complete. The buddy will be visiting next weekend, to put it together, so we should know by then. |

Just an update. My buddy came down over the weekend and we put it all together. I let him do all the work and after about 45 minutes we were loading windows.
The installation we 100% trouble free, well atleast until the end.
At the very end my buddy dressed all the cables up with wire ties an then snipped the power wire for the processor fan. Lucky, he happened to notice the fan shut off. We got it fixed.
The case is a very nice one for 47 bucks/free shipping.
Came with 2 fans also.
This install went so easy I kept on wondering when we would get bit, but it never happed. |
