    beep codes HELP!!!

     
    im trying to refurb an old computer for a friend its an old HP PAV xt926. when i try to turn it on i get a beep code

    1 long
    3 short
    Pause
    3 short
    1 long

    what in the heck??? it was working fine when he brought it to me what do i need to try??

    1L 3S is usually bad RAM.

    I think some BIOS will do 1L 3S 3S 1L as well.

    Try reseating the RAM & Video card (if there is one).

    tried a known bad stick and got 1 long 3 short turns out. im really gettin a patern of 1 short 3 short 3 short 1 short. theres no vid card its onboard

    ok changed the battery out and still got it
    i have reseated everything several times nothing is working

    Maybe a bad RAM slot. Does it have more than one? Try the RAM in a different slot if it does.

    tried all slots with all available ram. Honestly i think the whole dang thing is screwed up. im just gonna reccomend him getting a new MOBO and stuff i found some pretty good parts on newegg total was 142 that should break his bank too much

    It could just be a flaky BIOS chip as well. As old as it is, give it a good burial and move on.

    this guy just wanted a rig to setup his router and stuff for Xbox live. and maybe to run NEStron(hes got alot of games butno NES)
