WYSIWYG for fonts in Photoshop 6

Is there some way to turn this on or is there a free plug in to get this? I am not that familiar with fonts, so this would be beneficial.

I'm not sure I understand the question.. You wish to install fonts so they are accessible in PS?

You should be able to install the font/s directly into the Control Panel > Fonts and then be able to use them in PS (Window > Show Character) . If PS is running, you may have to close the app and restart.

Or, for W2K, you can also paste directly to C:\WINNT\Fonts

Ooops. What I mean is in some programs, when you click on the font selection, the text is in the actual font, not a default one. When I go to choose a font in photoshop, they all appear the same. A wysiwyg selection would be much easier than highlighting the text and then changing the font just to see what it is.

Ahh ok, yeah, that's a peeve of mine, too, in PS.

I haven't really searched around for an app that shows the actual font look, so I don't know if there's an app out there that does that.

I just do it manually.. type the text, highlight it and try different fonts....

Another way is to go thru your fonts folder and open each one up .. a big pain and time consuming, though.

If there is an app or trick out there that does display the actual font look from the menu, I'd like to hear about it too. Flash 5 does this, and it's very convenient.

Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but if I do hear of one, I'll post it here.

Hey, this is a followup. This might help:

    Type your text

    highlight it

go to the font list and select a font.

use the up and down arrow keys and scan through the different fonts.

saves the time of highlighting, change, highlighting, change, etc.
