I hate to be a wet blanket here, but I hope you know you can't just take other people's photos and use them in your web page. Not without permission. Why don't you just take a picture of your own case?

OuT is right. Either get rights to a pic or take your own.

I just dont see a problem with taking someone's computer as a pic, its not like anything personal, but since its for a website i can understand also

It is an original creation, kinda like artwork. Under us law it is automatically copywrited or whatever to the creator.

The issue isn't what the picture is of, it is the picture itself.

May 21st, 2005, 09:57 PM #12If he isn't using the picture for profit, he should be OK using it as long as he gives credit - as for a website used for research of components and such, from which the webmaster derives no monetary gain. As long as you give credit to the original photographer / website, you should be ok - the worst that will happen is you get a takedown notice from the original content creator (especially if you didn't use it for monetary gain because then the guy can't claim monetary damages). If you're going to use this site (and this photo) to make money, then you should probably get one that's available for free on one of the major uncopyrighted photography archives online (designed specifically for this purpose) or take one yourself.

Not sure what the laws are on republishing items w/o the copyright owners concent.
While what FE said makes a certain amount of sense, it doesn't sound quite right to me.My computer is bigger than yours!

I don't think you have to declare a copyright, it is automatic when an original work is created.
