I was just doing a bit of browsing when some cool photos came up from deviant art's website. I was just wondering how those photos or graphics are made....?

Im guessing they all use photoshop or something similar, but do they work on existing photos, or start from scratch?

The first pic looks like a manipulated photo then with filters and or paint brushes and other effects applied to get the result wanted.
