I'm trying to find software that will join two avi's together. I've used a program called "Alive Video Joiner" but i would like to find
something better.
I would like to get more into editing and encoding so if anyone can recommend software that is easy to learn it would be a big help.
Thanks |

Hi Andrea,
The best software for you would really depend on how servious you are in getting more into editing/encoding etc.
You may want to start with free software to start with. I've not actually used "Alive Video Joiner" so couldn't comment too much. Common software is Windows Movie Maker for Windows XP platform and Apple iMovie for the Mac, both software should fit your initial requirements.
If you then fancy playing with the bigger and better albiet costly software then you'll be looking at either Abobe Premiere or Final Cut Studio
Encoding is another area altogether, you'll be able to export using the above software but if you wanted a good proffesional package then I've used Cleaner ( Win)( Mac) for a number of years and was very happy with it.
Hope this helps. |

Nero Vision Express has a merge video feature in its DVDVideo creation section. |

Avid Free DV is a good starting point for learning about video editing. Avid software is popular among video professionals, and the free version offers just enough features for beginners and hobbyists. http://www.avid.com/freedv/
As for linear editing, the classic VirtualDub is hard to beat. http://www.virtualdub.org/ |
