You might try a different animation program. Obviously the one you are using is not finalizing the .gif properly.
Also you might think about slowing the animation down and putting a pause in it. To have a highlight sparkle like that just constantly running across the logo is really annoying. Or maybe even loose the animation all together. Having the animated welcome page is enough imo. |

The issue is with the index page, not the home page, sorry. Yes, I agree, the home page animation will be lost as soon as we can figure out what's wrong with the index page animation? |

Well, I don't see what's wrong with the animation on your index page. It runs smooth and looks ok to me. For a large animated gif it looks fine.
What exactly do you mean when you say "sketchy". What's wrong with it? |

After examining your gif I see it's very large. Almost a megabyte. That's huge for an animated gif. That is probably your problem. It can be slimmed down quite a bit with proper optimization, but still, I think you're expecting quite a bit of visual "dazzle" from an animated gif. The gif format is really very limited and not suited well for such animations. You probably should be using Flash if you want that much eye candy. |

Well, if you guys don't see an issue with it, then maybe it's not an issue.
We've used flash before with poor results for dial up users or slow computers.
Animated gif's are easy and don't use alot of resources, thus our reason for choosing them to animate our site.
Thanks again for the advice it's greatly appreciated |

Animated gif's are easy and don't use alot of resources, thus our reason for choosing them to animate our site. | In reality Flash should be much less resource intensive and download much faster for the end users. This is assuming the Flash content is created and optimized properly utilizing the vector tools within Flash.
A vector based Flash animation can easily be 1/10th the size of a similar looking raster based gif animation.
And I'll tell ya, your animated gif file, at nearly 1MB in size, is not going to make any dial-up users happy. With some optimization you can easily get that file size down 400Kb or less. 400Kb is still rather large for dial-up users, but 1MB is crazy large. That needs to be addressed...IMO. |
