Picture Slideshow Software?
I am looking for some really cool and preferably free software to create some picture slideshows. I would like to put some music with them and burn it on a DVD to watch on the television.
I have done this with Nero before and it works ok but was looking for some other suggestions. Can anyone suggest some software?Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

Windows Movie Maker is free of course and is really easy to use for creating slideshows with music. See how easy it can be to create, edit, and add special effects to your movies using Windows Movie Maker.

You do have the option to save your movie to DVD using Movie Maker.

Creating Picture Slide show for Wedding Reception???
I am going to create a slide show for my wedding in May 08. I will probably have 40-50 pics that I want to include in the slide. I would probably like to put some music with it as well. It is going to loop over and over on a projector near the entrance.
Software recommendations
I have used Nero before to create this type of slide but was wondering if there was better software out there that any of you could recommend. Nero does a pretty good job but I think the program compresses the pictures a little and I want them to remain at full res so they will be clear as possible. I understand that by using a projector I will already loose some quality. Does Microsoft offer any free tools or programs?Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

My wife likes to use FlipAlbum. It's not free but there is a trial download. It's a pretty cool little program that will do all that you want it to do and then some.

DVD Photo Slideshow helps!
I thought Windows Movie Maker can only burn CDs. If it can burn DVD, I will have a try. But you may use DVD Photo Slideshow. It is recommended by my sister. The program seems to be a very easy-to-use one. I same lots of wedding themes in the program, so it would be amazing if you want to make a wedding photo slideshow.

recommend Photo Flash Maker
I recommend Photo Flash Maker. If you insert less than 36 photos, you can use it for FREE. The output effect is very nice, while the best feature I think is that it can be uploaded to myspace and my blog or any websites.

Well maybe
Check out Picasa 3. It's a Google product that is free and has some nice new features. I do not know that it will work for you but it's worth a look. I have used ver. 2 for years and have not looked at the new version much yet.

'Pictures to exe' is much used in camera clubs as is 'ProShow Gold from Photodex. Not free sadly but excellent software and considering the capabilities very competitively priced. Also very good is the more professional version 'ProShow Producer' although more expensive. It is important to check that you have a compatible cd/dvd writer, there is an extensive list of suitable writers on the Photodex website. It is sometimes available (used) on Ebay at a reasonable price.

Google picasa is great! If I use a windows pc I would use it on a regular basis, but since I use a mac, i use iphoto. I recommended google picasa for a coworker of mine earlier in the year for picture editing and it works great she said. I haven't actually created a slideshow but I'm sure it can be done.
