    Adjustable Backgrounds

okay im trying to make a website and want the background to be a gradient of blues, i got that under control but im wondering if there is a way to make it adjustable to different screen sizes...i make it really big to work on a big screen so you wont see the edges or i can make it smaller so you can actually see the gradient but it looks bad on big screens where the browser window is bigger than the res of the background image i made?

im using adobe cs3 stuff if that helps at all....any tips...thanks.
