| Need help re cd-r pics to dvd for dvd player
Hi, I read the post beginning of March re "jpeg to dvd"....however I know that I am not as advanced as that member !!
I have my pic's on a cd-r and want to do a simple slide show and won't be doing a lot of them, just the odd mailable gift to within Canada and US.
I use Nero Vers. 6.6.0.18 as it still serves all of my needs and I have no issues with it.
I don't see Slide Show as an app on it and so thought that I would post here to see if there is something that I am missing and if the Slide Show is not on there is there another recommended app that does not cost an arm and leg as I won't be using it an awful lot on a regular basis.
I hope that experienced members will have ideas, maybe I am in the wrong forum....comprised of hi-tech photographers. If so please advise as I am simply an amateur photographer used to the older Pentax and Nikon analog SLR's and just starting out here in digi world !!!
The main need is conversion of cd-r to Slide Show Dvd for older members of our family who detest computers !!!
Thank you for your time. |

| Picasa can do slide shows on a CD-R that play on nearly every DVD player.
You do not need to put the pictures on a DVD disc to play them in a DVD player. However, some older DVD players will simply not do picture slide shows. |

If you have XP or Vista on your computer, you can also just use Windows Movie maker to create your slideshows. It's not that great of a program, but if you just want your images all strung together and burned on a DVD, it'll do. it's pretty simple to use, but if you have trouble, check out the Help or drop us a line here.
normally, you can find a shortcut for it somewhere in the Accessories folder of your start menu, but if not, just go to Start->Run, type in "moviemk" and click OK. |

Nero6 does in fact do DVD slide shows. I know because I used it to make a DVD slide show out of all the pics for our church vacation bible school last year and even added music to it. Just open Nero StartSmart, mouse over "Photo and Video" or "Favorites" and select "Make Photo Slide Show" or something to that effect. I'm using Nero7 now so I don't remember exactly what it was called in 6 but it's there. Just make sure you select DVD as the disc type in the upper right hand side of the StartSmart window. I think it opened Nero Vision to do it but I can't remember exactly. That's what it is in 7. It's there. Let me know if you need more help......if I need to I'll uninstall Nero7 on my other machine and reinstall 6 so I can recall, if I can find time.

Won't work for your purposes.
I've used some pretty ancient, dinosaur set top DVD players and haven't found one old enough to not play DVD-R discs yet. I definitely wouldn't even worry about that.
***EDIT-
Picasa must have recently added the capability to burn a slide show to CD. There was no such thing when I tried last year but still won't work for you, you need DVD.

I believe I already pointed out that Picasa (and other programs) makes slide shows that can be played on DVD players....using CD-Rs. That's what he needed--a way to make discs that play pictures on DVD players.
You see, when you listen to the customer, you don't necessarily give him just the thing he asked for. You give him what he needs. |

Well if you wanna make it real simple...........he already has the pics on a CD-R. If he simply puts that disc into almost ANY set top DVD player(I haven't found one yet that won't), the DVD player itself will display the pics in a transitioned array much like a slide show, anyway.
The OP asked for a way to take the pics he has on a CD-R and make them into a DVD slide show and also somewhat indicated that he would prefer to use Nero to do it. I gave him answers to both of those requests. The OP NEVER asked for a way to play a CD-R on a DVD player, he specifically asked for a way to turn them into a DVD. Quote: |

Sorry for taking time to get to this thread. An unexpected emergency arose.
First my pics on the CDR+ that I want to make into a slide show will be shown via a multi media projector for a wedding.
I would like to get a program that I can use now and in the future that will give me the option to have my fade ins and music synchronized to the music. Since I am no tec whiz, I am looking for a program where I can do this with relative ease, even if there is a tutorial. I would like to have voice over capabilities and ability to use a couple of gif.s that I have saved.
The project would be 20 - 30 minutes and I would be complete.
I would like to purchase a program that has these abilities and grow with the application, however for the present be able to use it with some time spent to familiarizing myself with the app and my needs.
Are all apps with the use of "drag n drop" as I have googled some and I am not an adept drag n dropper.
As for Nero, I have read a mixed bag on what it can do and also Windows own application and so I would really like to consider a user friendly app with features that make up a overall good presentation.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to experienced suggestions. |
