To keep the impact of the negative space of the poster I would suggest putting the text below the person. However, this area is already filled and it would be hard to add text that was easily visible and not obnoxious. Maybe had a 1-2" strip of black on the bottom and put the text in there? I would suggest a black background, and a text color that is off-white to give it a little softer contrast than white/black. Font would really depend on the length of the text and the message of the text for me.
Just my $0.02

I'm not too sure exactly what this is for. My guess is that the teacher wants you to consider the tone, hues, lines, perspective and the direction of which everything flows... You have to apply what you have learned thus far.
Sometimes one word can bring a point across...
I don't know, some ideas. Don't use them, they're just examples to give you ideas. I am probably wrong. I think the inspirational focal point is somewhere in front of the person and maybe slightly above. (When you view the images you need to magnify.)
The fancy font is called Rage Italic and I used a 5X by 5Y black drop shadow.
"Inspirational focal point"? Edit- BTW| That's a nice wooden PC case you have there. Cherry wood would be sweet.

So is this a school project or not? I want to know if I made a jackass of my self. Edit- Don't answer that. I know what people would say..

the font really depends on the message. if you're making an impact statement, then go with a sans serif font that is bold and plain. It will really stand out and say "this is important!" If your goal is to suggest, use a serif font and possibly something a little slinky or curvy. This is a little more subtle and cues people to look deeper into the message since it takes longer to decipher, which in turn can ingrain it deeper into memory.
And, as keymaker said, i probably just made a jasckass out of myself and none of that made sense.
you've got a ton of leading lines in this poster and they're pointing different directions, which causes confusion and will negate some of the message's impact. There's also a lot of bright colors. These are well-coordinated, but there's no real space to insert text. You also will have real trouble picking a color for the font that won't somehow clash or become jumbled with the background.
it's an awesome looking pic and it looks like you've put a bit of effort into it.

Maybe i should grab a typography book some time this week. Yeah i was really struggling with the colours though. Really hard to choose ont that matches it nicely |
