Scanned Signature

I have to get an image onto a paycheck (yes, this is legit, i'm a programmer and I assist our Payroll department).

They complained that the image "looked" scanned and I'll admit it does. I have the signature on paper and was wondering what is the best way to scan it so it prints like an acutal signature. And in what format (jpg, png, tif)?

So many choices...

do i scan as a picture or document?
color?
greyscale
B&W?
high resolution?
low resolution?

We use .BMP images and they are 96dpi They average about 20KB so I am assuming we scan them as black and white.

Do they look like line art printed? That's what the manager wants and it's going to be a pain to test as I have to have it uploaded to a secure server (which means I have to call someone to do it for me; they get ticked-off after about the 5th test ) LOL
