Alright, I got my camera in a few days ago and I've gotten to play with it a little bit. It is very nice, but I need some more lenses.
A few shots I took today, these are unedited jpgs right from the memory card): Index of /images
(3-4MB images) |

(3-4MB images) | You will need more lenses. But it's a good idea to really exhaust your lens until your absolutely sick of it, especially since your just starting out and the fact you've just bought an expensive camera. It's a decent lens to practice the settings on. Play around with ISO, aperture on different targets etc... Pretend those auto-modes are not there, and only use it in the other custom modes and keep taking the shots until you get it right...
And you're using JPEGs? Switch it to RAW and edit/export them before they are processed by the camera. You might want to consider Adobe Lightroom at some point as well.
Really get to know your camera before you splash out on another lens. You'll keep wanting them, but you'll end up admiring their work, but won't know how to use them optimally.

Well, I finally got a new lens for it and the new lens is very nice.
The lens I bought was a Minolta 35-70mm: Minolta*AF 35-70 F4*2551-100 lens for Sony Alpha - Minolta camera mount
I took a few quick pictures with it, but haven't done much with it yet. I really like this image I took with it yesterday: http://www.lithiumstudios.org/images/DSC00363.JPG
The only thing I don't like is this new lens uses a 49mm filter and I bought the 55mm filter for my sony lens.
I also took a bunch of pretty neat pictures with my sony lens + polarizer on the roof of my grandparents house, but I am going to stitch them together later in photoshop. |

That does look like a nice step before a DSLR. I don't like how the viewfinder looks though, there is no shields on the side to block outside light when looking through it. I'd look around to see if you can get a better piece to go on the viewfinder, unless it works fine for you.
That's one of the things I am not liking about this A350, the viewfinder is a bit on the small side, which makes manual focus a bit more difficult. But I really do like the quality of images it has so far and the price I paid. |

My opinion is get a decent, but cheap, camera and save your money for lenses. Get a wide angle, telephoto, standard, and maybe a micro. Don't skimp on the glass.
