    Graphics Tablet with Dual Monitors

    Hello,

I have just bought an Aiptek Slim Tablet to replace my old one which didn't have Vista drivers. The trouble is that I have a dual monitor setup and I can't restrict the tablet to one screen. This means that if I have Photoshop open in one monitor I can only use half of the tablet to draw on.

Does anyone know any way to fix this/work around it 9other than switching to single-monitor mode everytime I want to use it - annoying as I usually have the image/whatever I'm working from open on the second monitor)?

I saw an old post in another forum suggesting that I change the PANEL_WIDTH parameter in the .ini file (aiptbl.ini) but mine does not have this option... I guess because that referred to an older version of the driver.

Any help is very much appreciated!

I'm not sure I understand. You have 2 monitors that you wanna hook up to one tablet?
Or your trying to use one monitor, then the screen on the tablet itself?

    Hello!

I'd nearly forgotten about this thread, it's been so long!

To answer CutieBlossom - no, I've not fixed it, I'm afraid.

To KarmaKiller: the problem is that I want to use two monitors, with my desktop spread across them both, but restrict the graphics tablet to one of them. Otherwise the physical area of the tablet is representing two monitors side by side, so you only have HALF of the space to draw on.

I think perhaps you misunderstand my use of the wor tablet - I mean an input device with a pen, not a screen. Here it is: http://www.directwebretail.com/product.php?productid=22

    yes, i did misunderstand you.

with that, I honestly have no clue. My best guess would be a matrox device probably.
    Newegg.com - matrox DualHead2Go D2G-A2A-IF VGA Interface - TV Tuners & Video Devices

    maybe that would work??

you've probably checked this, but just in case -

I bought a Genius tablet in the end, which AFAIK is the same as the aiptek tablet in different packaging. I'm using it on XP and in the control panel there is an icon called 'pen pad' with settings for the tablet. You can choose wether the tablet uses the whole screen, one monitor only, or a portion of the monitor...

maybe try a Genius driver for your tablet?

(not sure what might be different in Vista)

    Tablet on Dual Screens

Hi I had a similar problem. I ended up buying a Wacom Intuos PTZ-431W. It works with both XP and Vista. It is able to work on either monitor or across both. I can certainly recommend this tablet. I now use it all the time.

    Hope this helps.

    RE

I had a similar problem and hence came looking at this thread. Solved easily by looking into Control Panel ( I'm on Vista ) and then Wacom Tablet Properties. Third tab - Mapping, is where I found everything I needed. Just map the tablet to whatever monitor you prefer from there under 'Screen Area'.

    Wacom Intuos PTZ-630 problem

i have a Wacom Intuos PTZ-630 and i can't get it to stay on one monitor even after i switch the mapping. It will work scrolling around on my desktop but the moment i move around in any program (photoshop, Zbrush etc.) it immediately switches back to both screens. Does anybody have any ideas?

    much appreciated.

    Problem not resolved

    Dear Forums.

I do as well have the same problem with the Aiptek Slim Tablet. I have a dual screen setup and the tablet width effectively spans across both screens. I have to draw on one half of the board to stay on one screen.

I am aware that other manufacturers' software offer a solution to this, though the one of Aiptek doesn't. It would actually be worth a try finding out what other drivers (particularly the cheap makes) work with this tablet.

Anyway, anybody know a workaround/solution to this problem?

    Solution found

I found a solution, it's rather simple. Unzip the driver package, find the line AdjustPage = 0 and replace it with AdjustPage = 1. Then install the driver. Et voila, there is a third tab in the control panel where you can adjust the area the tablet gets mapped to. Don't ask me why the default value is 0.

Tested with MacrokeyManagerGeneric _V343_X64.zip and Aiptek MediaTablet U14000, should work with any other Aiptek/Trust tablet.

    Bamboo Pen with multi-monitor setup

After installing the latest Windows 7 64 bit drivers (5.2.1-6) for the Bamboo Pen tablet, I'm able to set the device to use just one of my two monitors!

    To enable this:

    1. Go to the Bamboo folder Start menu
    2. Click Bamboo Properties
    3. Click Details under the Tracking option on the right side of the Pen Tablet Properties window
    4. Select Monitor 1 (the one you want to use) under Screen Area
    5. Click OK

The tablet should now be set to work only with the monitor you specified, giving you the entire tablet surface for drawing.

    Best of luck!

    Luther

Confirmed working with Aiptek Slim Tablet 600U under win7 x64.
To clarify, in the driver version i used (3.49), I navigated to the X64 folder of the unzip'd driver file, and opened the "aiptbl.ini" file, editing it as above. Saved the file, installed the driver (the "setup.exe" in that folder works nicely, just use that one), and the missing configuration page appeared. Great solution, helped me out wonderfully. Thanks!

Confirmed working with the very same Driver: MacrokeyManagerGeneric _V343_X64.zip for Windows7 64Bit & Aiptek HyperPen 8000U (pretty old, i know!) - thanks a lot

    problem finding control tab

I'm using an aiptek 600u on dual screens, windows vista. I've followed your instructions for editing the ini. file and re installed the manager but, i know its a stupid question, where is the control panel you refer to where i can adjust where the tablet is mapped too. looking in my control panel folder the only settings i have are for 'wacom tablet properties' (from old user) and pen and input devices, neither of which seem to be right. Unless you are refering to the macro key manager but again i cant see any options there.

    thanks for you help, jack
