Trying to find a new digital camera for girlfriend's XMas present
Ok, so I have it all picked out: a Canon A590is and a 4GB SDHC card. But now I learn she wants a very compact camera, something slim she can fit in the Hello Kitty purse I got for her. Now I'm stuck, the camera I picked out is great but I also want to fit her needs/desires.
I need a hand and picking the best slim and compact camera I can get for her within a reasonable price range. The Canon I want to get her is within my range but I can got a little higher if need be. 8MP or higher if possible, and it needs to be new.
Thanks so much! This is for a Christmas present so I still have some time.

Get her one of these, I think it'll even match the color

FUJIFILM - FinePix 8.2-Megapixel Digital Camera - Pink - J12
a little higher on the price range but still great cameras
Sony - Cyber-shot 7.2MP Digital Camera - Silver - DSC-S750
Sony - Cyber-shot 7.2MP Digital Camera - Silver - DSC-W120
keep in mind MPs aren't the greatest factor in determining picture quality. So you shouldn't limit your shopping to 8MPs and up.Last edited by RicheemxX; November 24th, 2008 at 01:20 AM.

Get her a Nikon Coolpix like in the commercials with Ashton Kutcher. She'll love it.

I second the Fujifilm camera. I got the black version of that camera for a girl friend of mine. I paid $120 for it a couple months ago. Great little camera. Takes excellent photos, easy to use, huge lcd display, and the batteries last forever. I didn't want to get a camera that uses proprietary batteries but I've been really impressed with their performance. And the camera is too slim to use any regular batteries.

I just picked up a Olympus FE-20 for $99 at Radio Shack. It's 8.0 Megapixel, has the easiest interface I've ever had to deal with comes with some photo software (I didn't install it... already have better software) and you can't argue with a price like that!
The only downside is you have to purchase an SD or microSD card (the camera does come with a converter for the micro).
