Hai guys,
So my friend is in need of a new printer, since his old HP just died.
We don't want him to get an HP again, unless for some god awful reason they're better now. Always had software problems, the machine was klunky and whatnot.
Anywho,
Looking in sub 200$ range, even less if possible. Looking for an inkjet that is multifunctional, but don't need a fax. Needs to be quick, functional, and not a pain.
As well, my friend says that in the near feature he will be starting design classes and will want to be able to print some decent quality stuff.
Hopefully we can get this =D
thanks guys
Oh and p.s. Is colour laser a viable option for this? I know they cost a lot...but in the long run would it become better?
Wes

laser is not an option for your price range.
Here's some options: HP J6480 multifunction, wireless, uses the 74 black cartridge. The XL version gets you 700-800 pages and can be refilled using homekits or at retailers like OfficeMax and WalGreens. HP C5580 Same ink as the previous printer, lacks ADF but has photo paper tray, bluetooth, and CD/DVD print ability. Brother MFC 490. Wired/Wireless, ADF, "separate" photo tray. Gets you about 400-500 pages for black cartridge. 4 color ink system means less waste, only replace color that's needed. Epson Work Force 600
ADF, photo tray, wireless. 4 color system. Epson doesn't readily provide information on the number of prints one gets from a cartridge.
Canon and Lexmark also make AIO units, I personally tend to avoid them (Canon's have slow print speeds, Lexmark has had CQ issues over the years and their ink is damn expensive for the amount of prints you get from them).
