Here is the html code in question: Quote: |
<a href="definition.htm" tppabs="http://www.rivergate.com/ross/definition.htm">Definition</a>
| My question to you is what does the "tppabs" attribute mean? I understand the rest, but don't know what it means. I've done a bit of research online but can't figure it out.

I believe it's a tag that leads you to a browsable version of the page you are on that can be saved to your HHD. Object orientated maybe.
Someone else might be able to give a better definition.
Cheers! |

well i can tell you that it's meant to mean something absolute, hence the abs part of the tag... sounds like a wysiwyg tag... even the w3 people don't have a definition for it on their site, i actually sat and read some of their linking definition stuff.
now i'm curious... |

I work for a web development and hosting company, and we are transferring a client's website to our servers. Because the client was taking a long time to give us an original copy of the site we decided to download what we could manually. I posted a message on how to do this a few day ago.
One we retrieved the site we needed to edit the code to make all the links work properly and such, and that is where I saw this tag. I think Beemer might be on the right trace though.
I didn't think of this before but there was also this line in the code which gave a odd error message when click on: Quote:
javascript:if(confirm('http://www.amerchiro.org/ \n\nThis file was not retrieved by Teleport Pro, because it is addressed on a domain or path outside the boundaries set for its Starting Address. \n\nDo you want to open it from the server?'))window.location='http://www.amerchiro.org/'"
tppabs="http://www.amerchiro.org/
| I didn't think anything about it until I realized what it was said. When you click the link it gives an error that says: Quote:
http://www.amerchiro.org/
This file was not retrieved by Teleport Pro, because it is addressed on a domain or path outside the boundaries set for its Starting Address.
Do you want to open it from the server?
| I realized when I read it that it had the line "Teleport Pro" or tpp. I then search for "teleport pro" and sure enough it is a product.
NOTE: Teleport Pro appears to be a program that will allow to download a complete website and store them on your machine.
I then was thinking about what storm2k said about it being an absolute path. My guess is that when it was written the person has some Teleport program and it inserted the "tppabs" attribute referring to which server it is stored on.
I don't know if this makes any since but it at least a start to an explanation.
LK
BTW: The website were the actually link can be found is Chiro-doc.com. Also note that we are not hosting the page yet and that is why there are still errors. |

you need to create your own thread and not post in one thats two years old!
I'd suggest our Webmastering and Programming forums!
