I have this problem too.
I want to resize an image in a batch command to take advantage of photoshops nice bicubit resampling. If I use the File -> Automate -> Batch command I get errors with my Action. It says the Image Size command is "not currently available."
Is there a way to do resize automatically without having to load each picture? I could manually do it but I've got way too many photos.*
Thanks,
*actually I'm just lazy |

Why don't you use mogrify. It's free, and it's command line interface means you can do something like:
mogrify scale 640x480! -quality 100 *
and it will do all your pics at once
Mind you that's what I use in linux so the w2k client may not be the same. |

There is a way to batch automatically without having to open each picture. You can choose to batch a particular folder which will do all the images inside that folder. I do this when I want to resize a bunch of pictures for e-mailing. I also create a new folder called "e-mail" and use that as the destination folder so I can then send them off and delete the folder keeping the original pics intact.
The only problem is that it still asks me what jpeg quality I want to save each photo as, but I know you can have this set automatically too as I have done it before.
Just cannot remember how to do it????? |

Holy thread resurrection batman. Anyway, I've been doing it via Photoshop actions... recorded a macro to resize, save for web, then close each image. Only thing is I have to open each image and play the action for each one.
I've come across the WindowsXP Powertoy called Image Resizer. It handles multiple files at once, so just select all and then apply it. It's simple-functioned so all it does is spit out resized images with an altered name for each one. You'll have to get a batch renamer like ACDSee to get them back to your original names or whatever you like. Hope that helps.
