    Format

I am having trouble with format from a boot disk.
running Win98SE and I get errors, dll failures and conlficts.

I wish to format and/or f-disk but when I restart with the boot disk in the A: drive, it doesn't give me a dos screen it goes straight to opening windows.....?

can anybody give me some advice to what im doing wrong,
I have read many forums and searched for f-disk/format on the web but they all say the same thing...

I am not computer illiterate but i have never had to f-disk or format please does anyone have some good advice or intstructions on formatting?

it sounds like the boot order of your pc is checking the hard disk before the floppy.

reboot your machine, and watch the screen...it will display a hotkey (something like f1 or del) to go into setup. once there, change the boot order to 1)floppy, 2)cd-rom, 3)hard disk.

    then try again.

your system specs might also help

You need to have your pc set to boot from the floppy. To do this enter the cmos / bios right after your pc is turned on. To enter it you usually have to press the <del> key when prompted. Sometimes its <f1>, <f2>, <esc>, etc... depending on your system.

Look for boot options or boot sequence. change it to boot from the "A" drive or floppy drive depending on how it is listed. Make sure you save changes before exiting.

If the explanation is too vague, let me know. I am not sure of your knowledge of the bios...
