Drivers Question
Greetings. More Graphics Card questions (never before played with vid card settings and optimizations- this is cool)...
I have a PNY Verto G3 TI 200. I am running the latest drivers from there site- 2.1.88. I average a 3D Mark of 5280 with 2001 (not overclocked or tweaked- tried with GTU but didnt notice considerable increase, so deinstalled). My question is this- can I use the DetonatorXP drivers which boast a 10-30% in performance or should I stick to specific Verto drivers? It appears that the detonator drivers are for nvidia specific... however, nvidia makes the chip, not the card. So, will it work and increase performance or hinder performance. What are your thoughts?
I know I could just try it, but wasnt sure if anyone out there already has and can offer some insight and experiences.
Thanks,
Mortis

Greetings... I went ahead and did it. 3D Mark showed a 70-90 pt increase. Not much... but better. I have not yet experienced any detrimental effects.

I found the detanatorXP drivers to be a hell of a lot better then my card's manufacture's drivers..
If you're using the 23.11 i advise you try to find the 21.83 version, I got a lot of problems with version 23.11..
Here's a sceenshot:

Thanks for the info... I guess I am blessed by the 23.11 gods. I have 23.11 installed and get a 3D Mark of 5325-5365 (lowest and highest since update) and havent overclocked and settings are at default. I noticed a lot of people having probs with 23.11, but I have had none so far. I mainly play halflife (and all mods including counterstrike), DiabloII expansion and Max Payne. I have probably gamed between all three about 20 hours over the last week or so and havent experienced one prob. Not sure why this is- but I am not going to tweak or touch anything... lol.

here you can see a comparison of the 7850 vs GTX 570 (GTX 560 Ti 448 is reduced spec 570, so the 448 Core would be close to the 7850 in performance, if not just behind it a hair): AnandTech |...
