what video card or onboard video are you using and have you tried to see if that is problem, do you have an old monitor to hook up and see, i can't see all these monitors having same problem, has to be somewhere else, cord, connection to video out, problem in your adaptor, Have you plugged straight into wall socket?, unhooked everything else from pc to see if you monitor runs smooth(not on inside) i meen the back of pc. speakers, microphone, printer etc. just unhook them all and see if monitor has any problems. then if it still does, i would assume a video card or onboard video problem. Good luck, hope all this makes sense...things like this can get annoying real fast.

try finding a small uninterruptible power supply with a power conditioner or just a power conditioner.. sounds like your hose wiring is pretty old and subject to noise interference from a lnearby RF source ( ie large transformer, substation, high tension power lines, TV station , AM/FM radio, etc)

BTW did you take the whole computer to your mates or just the monitor?? because if you took just the monitor we can't truly rule out a bum video card |

I'd say it was your video card.
Two reasons my dear Watson:
a) You have tried the computer on a different monitor in a different location, away from those huge-arse speakers, so it is not your monitor, or your speakers. It was still poo
b) To prove that it was your video card, or your PC, is that you tried that exact monitor of yours on a different PC and it worked fine.
Unless you brought the whole PC to your mates... then there must be something wrong with the power.
Did you use a different adapter? Mine kept restarting my PC then I got a new one, it worked fine. |

Well then it is either coming from your power lines, or from external (envioronmental) sources, or from withing your equipment. Like maybe you are getting fried by microwave energy! What you are seeing is a signal from some source. You just have to find it.
Do you have any cordless phones, etc. close by? Quote: |
where there is nothing but a light, and it still does the same thing...
| Is it a floursecent light? Get rid of it, too. Candles only!
Edit # 14: Here's an idea. Get a long extention cord and hook all of your equipment to a powerstrip on this cord. Try different outlets in the house. Shut off any floursecent lights...
