i will try my PC in my back room, it is used as a storage room, the room furthest away from the lounge/kitchen which is jam packed full of electronic goodness, which may be the source to my lil problem...
hopefully today i have enough time to buy a UPadaptor, i hate spending money just to fix silly problems!! we'll see
anyways time to move things.....again!

take a look outside..... see any communication tower, power lines, etc close by.. have any neighbors who run ham radio, etc..
how old is your house/apt? older houses commonly have outdates wiring that doesn't provide sufficient grounding that could lead to similar problems
have you tried taking the WHOLE machine, and any desk lights you may use to a freinds and hooking em up there to see if the problem persists?
what about transformers for peripherals?have you tried un hooking those too?
wireless mouse/ keyboard? those COULD (but shouldn't) cause problems too.
BTW where do you live??

Is your house properly grounded? If not even a surge surpresor cant filter out line noise. I think it fair to say its a dirty power problem. Are your volts in ac outlet reading a steady 110v or so? Is your ground o.k.? Check those FIRST. Is there a ac fan attached to that branch circuit your pc is on?

10 years old. It def should be properly grounded. You know what. Its sounds like alot of work BUT. Id take your tower and mon ove to your buddies. See if it has lines THEN. If not its 100% some kinda interference at your house. |

Some other considerations: Dimmer switches, halogen lamps, (hi power -- not 480/240V) power lines, street lamp timers.
To locate possible noise sources, try a bit of detective work:
Get a portable (battery-powerd) transistor radio, with AM band. Tune to an empty spot (no AM station signal) around 1400kHz, to get 'white noise.' Take this radio and snoop around your monitor, listening for the static noise level to increase. Check out nearby electrical items (lamps, switches, etc.).
