Is this a video card problem ?
First off, this is my configuration:
Mobo: Epox 8K7A,
RAM: 512MB DDR
P/S: Enlight HPC-300-101
CPU: AMD 1950MHZ
HD: 1 Maxtor, 1 Western Digital
CD: 1 CD-R, 1 CD-RW
Monitor: Mag 986FS
Video Card:
I originally had a Geforce 2 GTS and the system was very stable.
I upgraded to a PNY Geforce TI-4400 and the trouble began.
Direct X is 9.0b
Video driver is 56.64. I tried going back to 45.23 but it didn't help
The problem is in the game Horizons. Quite soon after I start playing, the PC will either shut off, or reboot.
The only other game I play is Civilizations and it plays fine.
The temperatures are good, about 98f.
I was wondering if the power supply is adequate for this configuration,
or can anyone suggest an alternative for me to test.
Would adding this video card be too much for the P/S ?
Is it the game, the video card, or my gear ?
and thanks

If it only give this problem when playing that game, its probably the game, but I am not sure though. Have you tried reinstall the game?

Well.. Civilizations might not crash because the game is probably not taxing the video card too much.
Maybe the video card is overheating.
Have you checked if the fan is running?
Also, try playing with your case opened and a Big house fan blowing straight to it.
If the computer doesn't reboots, then you know you need to cool the video card more.
Also, check that you are not overclocking and upgrade the motherboard drivers.boo!

Thanks
for the ideas. I reloaded the game, and initially, when it started to load, it rebooted.
I tried it again, selecting the option to check for all the latest files and this time it launched, but froze, and exited after a few minutes.
At least it only exited back to the login screen rather that to a reboot.
I am playing with the covers off, and the vid card has a small fan on it that is spinning. It is pretty small though, and is the one that comes with the card.
The cpu temps are around 100F.
I will try the bit about an external fan.
I did not overclock the card, and I wonder how I can check its settings.
I will research the drivers upgrades idea.
thanks again

Try looking for and installing any update patches for the game.
Unofficial TechIMO record holder for the number of times being added and removed from beemer's ignore list.

Also, what is the game that is crashing?
Maybe the install went bad.
Is it a backup copy or something?boo!

you could try turning down or off the video acceleration as this sometimes causes games to go screwy.

What sequence
to reload everything.
My guess is:
1) AGP driver
2) DX9
3) Nvidia video driver
4) the game.
Is that correct ?
thanks

I should probably buy a new...
