Dual Monitor--Why O Why not...

Never been one for setting up two monitors on one PC but one PC went down for a couple of days so I thought why not....

Picked up monitor and took it over to other one and plugged it into the on-board video slot.... and left the other one plugged into the AGP card... and booted up.

What no second monitor, why I wonder.

Searching around seems it cant be done. As there both AGP! We can put men on the moon but cant have the on-board AGP working with a AGP card. Next you will be telling we didn't really goto the moon.

Or am I wrong?

Ideas.

Well it can be tecnical limitation of your mobo, but some video cards around let you hook two monitors to the same videocard....

And for dual monitor on a system with and AGP card or onboard, you will need a PCI video card to have dual monitors...

This is because one cannot have more than one AGP device.

ATI's latest integrated-VGA chipsets can pull the trick though, transmogrifying the integrated one into a PCI device when an AGP card is plugged. All others simply hide the internal one if an AGP card is in. With a PCI card inserted, they stay however.

Perhaps you may want to try www.maxivista.com, but only if you have two computers. Maxivista allows to use a secondary PC as an additional (dual) display of your primary box.
