whats a good economical graphics card

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent graphics card to me that I can buy for around $100-200. I'm not looking for the best or the newest card because I know those cost significantly more. I basically want a decent card that I can use to do my work, watch some dvds, and occasionally play some games. I'm not a hardcore gamer but do play for fun here and there.

Is there a good card that gives you the most bang for the buck.

I currently have an old 32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 4X AGP card.

could you give a list of the games you are playing now and would like to play in the future?

if you wait till about mid summer the ATI 9800 pro should be under 200 bucks. Another good card is the ATI 9600XT

Right now I'm just playing warcraft. Actually most other games like first person shooters don't work that nicely and I'm thinking it's because of my card so I haven't been playing any of them. I have a 1.3 ghz P4 which isn't great, but it's decent. Thanks for the suggestion about the 9800 pro and 9600xt. I'll start looking into them.

The Geforce 5900XT is cheaper than the Radeon 9800 Pro, and a nice overclocker. Last time I remembered, they were $170 from Newegg.com

5900xt.............mid price..........good card...........better benches than the 9600xt.

as groundzero said the 9800 pro is dropping in price.............still a little more expensive than the 5900xt but probably worth the extra

Like mentioned, the 5900XT is a very nice card if your on a budget. Try pricewatch.com for some cheap prices, but be sure to check out thier Reseller rating
