ati radeon 9600SE to nVidia gforce4 TI4600

I have a fairly new ati radeon 9600se in my desktop, and i want to buy a nVidia gforce4TI4600 to replace it. Will the performance be better than the 9600se?

i would say if your going to upgrade, go with a 9800pro. I'm not even sure if you can find many ti4600's any more.

You'll definitely get better performance with the Ti 4600.

the performance gain will be marginal and you would be going to a dx 8 card

The 9600SE is too slow for any real DX9 games. You'll get near 9600XT performance with the Ti 4600 in DX8 which is a far better tradeoff.

I get around 14,000 in 3dmark 2k1 with my Chaintec GeForce 4 Ti-4600 4x AGP.. I don't think the 9600se could match that. Though it might perform a bit better in 3dmark 2k3.

The 9600SE is crappier than the 9200 but if you got the 9200 there would be almost no visual difference, just go with a higher end card such as the 9800Pro or NP and you will be fine for a while. If you absolutely have to upgrade though and don't have a large budget then just go with the 9600Pro

$126

Oh yah and the 256mb is not worth the extra it costs, it isn't better, well I don't know about the 9200 but on the 9800 128vs256 the 256 most of the time had the exact same or lower fps than the 128mb version

yes, video cards with 256MB of memory are typically a few frames slower, because cheaper quality video memory is used, or you could say slower memory.....

excluding the 9600se, i'm not sure how it would perform, taken from the tom's hardware website, this is, from best to worst:

1. radeon 9800 xt
2. geforce fx 5950 ultra
3. radeon 9800 pro 128MB
4. radeon 9800 pro 256MB
5. geforce fx 5900 ultra
6. geforce fx 5800 ultra
7. radeon 9700 pro
8. radeon 9800
9. geforce fx 5900
10. geforce fx 5900 xt
11. radeon 9700
12. geforce fx 5800
13. geforce fx 5700 ultra
14. radeon 9600 xt
15. radeon 9500 pro
16. radeon 9800 se
17. radeon 9600 pro
18. geforce ti 4600
19. geforce ti 4400
20. geforce fx 5700
21. geforce ti 4200 8x agp
22. geforce ti 4200 64mb
23. radeon 9500
24. geforce fx 5600 ultra
25. geforce ti 4200 128mb
26. radeon 9500 64mb
27. geforce fx 5600
28. radeon 9600
29. geforce fx 5200 ultra
30. radeon 8500 64mb
31. radeon 8500 128mb
32. radeon 9000 pro
33. geforce fx 5200
34. radeon 9200 64mb
35. radeon 9200 128mb
36. radeon 9600 se <--- oopsie it's so bad i didnt even put it in my list =P it's the ONLY 64-bit card tested!!!!!!!!! *EDIT!!* no at times it can be put from 30-36... but STILL it's 64-bit

but would the fps become higher or lower with the ATI CHIPSET RADEON 9200 256mb, since i think it is 128-bit so wouldnt the memory bandwith become higher as well?
