| Recording to VHS (mpegs don't play)
I have my computer set up to where I can record what is on my (pc) monitor onto a vhs tape with an All in Wonder Graphics Card. I am recording a slideshow through PowerPoint, I have vidoes (Mpegs) on the slideshow when I watch it on my tv while recording the video's (Mpegs) don't play?
Any ideas how to fix this problem?
Thank you

sounds like it may be a problem with video overlay settings. do you just get a pink (magenta) space where the video should be? |

ATI encodes it's video files with it's own proprietary format. You need to re-record or convert the existing files to a more "generic" format or you won't be able to play the files on any computer without the correct codec.

The video will come up for a sec on the tv monitor and then it goes to a black box (it plays on the computer though)
It isn't as though my vidoes are not playing at all they just are not playing on the tv display.

This may be a different issue then what I described then. Have you tried any other .mpg files that you did not create (for testing purposes)? At the very least, this may rule out the possibility of a problem with the video files itself. |

yeah I don't think it is a problem with the video. I am not sure at all what the problem can be. The slideshow plays fine just when it gets to the video's a black box appears where the video should be. |

The problem sounds like what one experinces with laptops displaying on both the LCD and their monitor port. Right Click your desktop goto properties and then the settings. Make your VCR output the primary monitor and your regular monitor your secondary monitor. See if this fixes your problem.

Do you see anything under Settings --> advanced ?
Its been a long time since ive used catalyst drivers, but look for the area where it has the clone/twinview settings or whatever ATI calls it (whree u select TV as 2nd monitor).
As phenous said, there should be a setting for primary/secondary display. |

with ATI you goto Properties -> Settings Tab -> Advanced Button -> Displays Tab -> choose your displays.
