NVIDIA Driver Problem

Hi,

I have just installed the latest nvidia drivers (61.77) after formatting my PC. The installation went well, except now when windows has fully loaded, the screen goes blank and then comes back about 1-2 seconds later.

I have tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing them, then even installing older drivers, but cant seem to fix the problem.

I have since formatted my PC again to revert to my original nvidia drivers, which I had no problems with before, but the problem still occurs!

This is the first format I have performed since purchasing the graphics card some time ago.

Please could you help me in trying to resolve this problem.

nVidia GeForce 4 Ti4800, DirectX9.0b.

TIA

Michael

get rid of the nvutil that loads up on startup
Think that does it
if you're on winxp goto start --> run and type 'msconfig'
Go to the startup tab and I usualy just uncheck all the nvidia startup stuff

it may be a refresh rate, resolution, or colour depth change. try looking in the screen settings to find out which way theses are set. right click on desktop, choose properties, then settings.

I removed all nVidia stuff thats loads on startup, but one keeps on re-adding itself (NvCpl)

All the settings for the graphics card are as how I have always had them 85Hz, 32bit, 1280x1024.

monitor set up

It's probably you monitor setup....check you refresh rate and monitor frequency....we run into this all the time and it's the monitor 99% of the time.

Wow 85 Hz are you sure your monitor can support that high of a refresh rate, that hurts my eyes just thinking about it.

Get DirectX 9.0c, it is the newest version of directX and the latest nvidia drivers were written for use with it.
This isn't a serious problem and yeah it is to do with the nvidia drivers and has happened from what I have noticed since even the 40.xx drivers from nvidia.
I dont normally notice it since my computer is still starting up, but stopping the nvidia display stuff that starts up should stop it if you wish those to not start up.

Edit: Shabow, the higher the refresh rate, the easier it is on your eyes, so if you have a nice monitor that supports 100+ hz it is better to look at, 75hz is for what most people can see the flicker at still. I can see it at 85hz right now, and can even notice it when using 100hz, however i'd rather use 100hz to 120hz since 85hz can really get to me after awhile, however that's a lot less sooner than if I were using 60-75hz 75hz is industry standard since not every one can see any flicker at that refresh rate.

I have stopped all NVIDIA stuff from loading, but the screen still goes blank. Also one entry msconfig under the startup tab

(NvCpl - RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup)

keeps re-appearing, even after I tell it not to load up.

I have just noticed that the screen now also goes blank for 1-2 seconds when I right-click on a video file
