Screen wiggling on the sides

First off, my specs:

MSI KT6 Delta-L
Windows 2000 SP4
XFX Geforce4 Ti4200 (current drivers)
Samsung 763Mb 17" Monitor

I've been having problems recently with my display. On the sides of the screen, about 1/8" or so, it "wiggles" a bit. It just keeps shrinking and expanding horizontally. Sometimes it's worse, sometimes not. It's mostly on the edges, but the entire display becomes affected when it gets bad.
I haven't changed anything on my computer for quite a while now, it's been in the same spot, same settings, same hardware.... This started happening for no reason.
Do you think it's some kind of interference?
It really only seems to happen when I play games, but yet I'm not on it long enough to tell otherwise when I'm not playing games. lol.

hmmmmm... can you troubleshoot by hooking up the same monitor somewhere else? ie on someone elses computer, or visa versa hooking up an alternate monitor to your computer.

lol... actually i didn't even think of that.
I've been so busy working that I haven't had time to do any troubleshooting. Then when I get home, all I want to do is relax and play a game or something. hehe.

Maybe I'll try my wife's monitor to see if it does anything differently.

Is it a rapid "wiggling" or does it slowly shrink and then slowly expand?

It's it's rapid, then it's probably interference from somekind of rotating motor nearby. Like a fan or I have even seen ceiling fans and A/C unit that are big enough do this. And sometimes speakers that are really close to the monitor can do this also.

Is it's slow, then it's probably something to do with the powersupply of the monitor. Is it an old or refurbished monitor? Here is a test: Set your background to pure black. Open up Wordpad or something with a pure white background. Now Atl+Tab between the two as see if the border of your ponitor shrinks when the white background is shown. Most monitors will shrink a tiny bit, but if yours shrinks a lot, then you have got a bad powersupply in your monitor.

If your monitor passes that test, the only other kind of shrinking I can think of is a a very slow shrinking and expanding of the monitor like someone was playing with pincushion settings, and I would have to readjust the settings often. The only fix was replacing the monitor.

It's VERY RAPID when it does it.

The only "fan" nearby would be the A/C unit in our house, but it wasn't on this morning when the screen started to jiggle.
It's not rythmic either. It's rather random in how it becomes distorted.
I DO have some speakers sitting very close to the monitor, but they are magnetically shielded. Could they still be causing it?

My computer is in the basement, surrounded by concrete walls beneath drywall... I don't know if anything "outside" the house would be causing it.... Or could it?

I will give that test you mentioned a try to see what happens. I purchased the monitor brand new, but that was almost two years ago. Things break sometimes for no reason. hehe.

My speakers say they are "shielded" but I have them sitting 1 inch from the screen and sometimes, if it's loud, the screen still shakes. (In the area by the speaker.)
