About the 9800SE
Hi
Just got this really cheap Radeon 9800se, its a 256 bit version. i'm looking for the best drivers available to get the most of this graphic card, and i've heard about unlocking the 4 extra pipelines to get her done with all 8.
So, what are the best drivers?
and, how can i have it full steamed without trashing the piece?
thanks!!

if you gonna overclock it, get a gud fan next to it, if you look on google and type gladiator computer, on the first site check out cooling and look at blue dual fan, it fits into pci slot next to card and is £15! bet your not frm uk tho so this is useless info. not sure on other qs tho. drivers on ati.com, u can try beta 4.9 if you want performance boost, but it's only a BETA so be warned!

1) Replace the dinky lilttle stock cooler with something better. That chip gets HOT when you soft mod it.
2) Go to http://www.omegadrivers.net/ and download the omega drivers to softmod your 9800se to pro. Don't be surprised if it doesn't work. Not all 9800se's can be softmodded.

Hi
Thanks for your reply, i'm aware that this graphic card will get so hot i will be able to bake an egg on it, so i'm looking for a decent cooler. What do you think of this one:

I hope it works for you. I thought about getting the card in hopes of softmodding, but I didn't. Just to big of a gamble for me.

I have the 9800SE, soft modded and mine at least gets no hotter than any other vid card I've ever had. Not perceptable anyway. I even overclock it a bit, perhaps 30 Mhz each. You may get some artifacts but again, I've never seen any. It makes a difference. Went from Low quality 800x600 in Doom3 with the ATI drivers to 1024X768 med quality in Doom 3 with omega drivers. Very playable with an overclocked Athlon XP2400 (clocked to 2700 speeds) Turned off some features to get it to run smooth. Still a beautiful game. Way too dark but pretty as hell

Softmodded it with omega drivers and.... got a sh!tload of artifacts...FOC! Not impossible to use but half screen with blinking things is not very nice to get used to.... I gues i'll keep the card because it was really cheap....
BTW its is a powercolor, 256bit model....

Hmmm, I'm not an expert with this stuff.
Hope you get it to work though!
I was thinking of going with the 9800SE and softmodding, but I went with the 9600XT instead
- something I do not regret doing.
