yes sapphire is a good brand but they are known to make some 9800 Pros with only 128-bit memory, which i though this was at first but after further inspection it looks like it is 256-bit
    Hey who turned sigs on?

If it's one of my links in other threads, then yes, it is a 256 bit card and it's a great brand, great card, at a great price

depends... some people are upgrading from a 9800 pro already.. but there are also people like me that just upgraded TO a 9600 non pro so will it be able to play every game? hopefully. will it be able to play every game on ultra settings for the next year? no, even the best cards now may not be able to play at ultra settings in a year...

From what I read, Sapphire often makes slower cards than competitors with the same ATi chip, but they are also cheaper.

The radeon 8500< were truely slower. BUT the radeon 9500> are all on par with ati's own. Actually, sapphire mkes ati cards. The 8500's just had used slower mem on some makes, which even ati has done in the past themselves. Fact is 9500 and up. All the same as ati right down to the pcb. The 128bit deal was one exception but other manufacturers had them also. Just the 9500 sapphires were being unlocked so many complained about the unuseable 128bit versions. By the way I have a sapphire radeon 9800 and it rips. Check the bench marks in 2003 and 2001 here. It shows its no slouch and ati brand inst better.

yup, that card should run hl-2 fine on medium settings the 9600pro would most likely run hl-2 on low settings and low res. 9800pro=medium settings, good res.
