not intel as they offer limited overclocking options which youl need in the future to give your system a little more hope once everyone else has 128 bit proccessors and 4.5 ghz systems

I just got an Intel 3.0E with the MSI 6600GT.
Sitting next to that one is my older AMD 2500+ overclocked to 3200 with an ATI 9800PRO. Both have 1 gig ram.
So far the game Battlefield Vietnam runs much nicer on the 6600GT. Whether it is the video card or the cpu or both, not sure, but my bet is on the video card.
I deliberately bought the opposite of what I already had to be able to do real comparisons. |

the only bad thing is that ibuypower doesn't have the 6600GT as an option yet, I would go with the 6800GT which is only 365

Except that they do not use any custom parts like Dell, Alienware, etc, meaning that you can upgrade whatever you want, and buy the parts whereever you want Quote: |

While the 3dmark score difference might only be 1k (between the 6600GT and 9800PRO) the difference in games is a lot bigger.

Which system would you prefer?
(Alienware) P4 530 w/ HT 3.2GHz 1MB Cache
1GB Dual Channel Low-Latency DDR PC3200 @ 400MHz
(W/o video card) ($1,012)
(ibuypower.com) P4 w/ HT 3.4GHz 1MB Cache
1024MB Dual Channel DDR-400 PC3200
Nvidia GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP
(w/ video card) ($1,306)
(ibuypower.com)( 939-pin)AMD Athlon-64 3500+ w/ HT
1024MB Dual Channel DDR-400 PC3200
Nvidia GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP
(w/ video card) ($1,329
All the other spec's; HD, drives, etc were similiar. (I want a relatively cheap, good gaming pc.(the parenthesis are the makers) |
