Open Gl Difficulties
In Win XP, the card is a GeForce 2. I have been trying to play RTCW for the last hour and every time I try to load it I get an error that says that it is unable to load Open GL...I have already updated from M$ and from Nvidia and it still does the same thing.
SysRq & Ritalin Kid
P.S. We think it might be the refresh rate causing problems because the games that will load such as Baldur's Gate are all jumpy.

windows xp likes to set your refresh rate to 60 for all direct x video modes, so a refreshrate problem is a possibility.

it's possibly a refresh rate, but windows mighta turned off open gl behind your backs. you know how ms... they'd prefer you to use dx. check that out.

RTCW uses the same graphics engine that Quake III Arena uses, and Ive had QIIIA die on me with open GL errors.
The only way I fixed it was to uninstall the game, totally delete its folder, set the video driver to standard PCI, reinstall the detonators, then reinstall the game.
That was under Win98 and Win2x . . . never tried it under XP.

Well the RTCW wont even load...it just goes to a black screen then returns with the Open GL error....Baldur's Gate and King's Quest: Mask of eternity...they will load but then the refresh rate is all screwed up.
Also this is Rit's girlfriends computer....she is running an ECS K7S5A mobo if that helps any. Would be nice to get this solved before tommorrow night when we bolth go home for the week.d[o_o]b

My problem was that I had dual display setup. Having the cirrus logic card drive my second monitor made hardware opengl acceleration disabled.
When I removed it, the game in question (SoF) worked fine.
Now opengl games work fine (I have Elsa Gloria Synergy vivo8 driving the second monitor).
Try the glsetup you can download..
Or, check sisoft sandra's opengl information.
Mine said 'Software' when I couldn't run opengl games - thou my geforce2 says it's 100% opengl compatible.
