[lcd help] dvi adapter?

hey guys...

i aquired a sony lcd screen a month back..., and i have been using my VGA cable to my video card.

i remembered when i build my comp, it came with a VGA > DVI adapter. so i tried to put the DVI into the vid card, but no signal came out? what is wrong?

is there something in eed to adjust?

(my adapter looks like the dvi - a), im also running a geforce 4 ti4400.

Yep, you need to activate the DVI connector.

Open your display properties and click the settings tab. Click the second monitor in the box at the top of the window to highlight it and then check the box marked "Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor" & click Apply. Now check the box marked "Use this device as my primary monitor" and click Apply. Disconnect the VGA cable and connect the DVI cable, you should now have a display on your monitor through the DVI cable.

BTW - I almost forgot, after you get switched over to the DVI adapter open the display properties and go to the settings tab. Select display 1 and uncheck the box "Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor" so that your display is only on the DVI connector.

Otherwise Windows will still extend the desktop to the other connector. Your mouse will go off the edge of the screen and disappear until you bring it back.
