Check out the VGA Charts: http://graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...004/index.html
I'm an Nvidia guy, and would personally go with the 6800GT. It beats the x800 pro most of the time, but I'm sure you'd be satisfied with either one. The 6800GT has Shader 3.0, the x800 doesn't. |

the GT. it'll pull down more frames and has shaders 3.0. X800 is still running 2.0 shaders.

The Geforce 6800 GT is much better price for the performance. I think all around the Geforce is better than the ATI in most cases, but not by huge margins. |

It will make a difference in new games coming out that utilize shader 3.0. You'll see a rise in video quality. |

There both excellent cards and the 3.0 shader will not be really utilized till a couple of years or so, but if i were u id get the 6800GT just cause it plans for the future, but either way u go ur still going to be happy.

ya, HL2 was based and optimized on the ATI lineup, so hl2 works best with ATI cards. such as Doom 3 is a different story since it was optimized on the Nvidia lineup, either way there both great cards, my brother owns an X800pro and ive used it many times, that shit is a beast
