Evaluating Graphics cards

I am doing a project on stereoscopic visualisation and need to evaluate graphics cards. When I say stereoscopic visualisation I mean viewing and navigating 3D scenes using shutter glasses in real time.

The cards I am evaluating so far are the Quadro 4 980 xgl and the wildcat vp8880 pro and the fire gl v3200.

Im am wondering what the most important features of a graphics card are for performance and what the different things mean, such as bus bandwidth, vertexes rendered per second memory etc.

What features of a card can be compared for evaluating performance. I.e is the memory, vertexes rendered per second, bus etc all relevant to performance. Are there any websites that have any sort of statistics for the different cards?

Doesn't seem to have the cards I am evaluating though. I am looking at the NVIDIA Quadro 4 980 XGL, the ATI Fire GL V3200 and the 3D Labs Wildcat VP880 Pro.
