| Watching HDTV on comp thru Cable?
I was wondering how I could view an HDTV signal, that I get through a digital cable box, on the comp? Ive seen these HDTV TV tuners out now, but I think thier for over-the-air HDTV, not cable HDTV.
Do I just need any Svideo/Composite/Coax input? Whats the best way to get that kind of input?
I current have a TV tuner thats about 5 years old (Pinnacle PCTV Pro), and a GF 6800 but with SVideo out only - no inputs. I figured I dont even need a tuner, since the cable box does the tuning. Also wasnt sure if the TV Tuner software would be able to pick up the HDTV signal and go into progressive scan/widescreen.
The cable co wont give me a HDTV box until I have an HDTV...or something that can view HDTV presumably, so i cant really just test different things...
Does anyone know exactly whatd I need?
EDIT - Havent been here for a long time - Just realized we have a multimedia forum. Mods help me move this?

I know HDTV is a vastly diff mode from regular tv - higher res and progressive scan, so Im not sure if any old TV tuner would work. |

yea, i doubt a older TV tuner will accept it.
HDTV wasnt a standard before, its only becoming mainstream now. |

just thought of this, maybe check the website of your TV tuner company, and see if they offer a new driver for the tuner. maybe they created a new driver to accept HDTV. just a thought. |
