Is there some evidence!
hi, now i mad a thread before about my 6600gt and how it lags with bots up and how it doesn't put stable framerates. Now i thought this is because it has 128mb memory. But turns out people said it doesn't depend on video memory. Its to do with your cpu. And also that the 6600gt was lagging because its not getting enough cpu power since it really demanding. So i was wondering if there is some evidence(website) that explains all this. Thanks for you support!

did you try and uninstall your video drivers... making sure you don't have any old ones (like from ATI or something ) and install the latest nvidea drivers

The card shouldn't lag on boot up ...? is that what your talking about ?
also, what does it lag in...games, windows, both...
your system seems fine... but really need to know your PSU...if you have a lacking PSU, that could cause problems...

why are you running it at X4 ... should be X8 unless your motherboard only supports X4, which is fine, the card will just default to it...you won't notice any difference....

your video card isn't lacking "cpu" pwr... never heard of that.. what they probably meant was your power supply.. PSU ... if your PSU has low output..like a 300 watt or low 12V rails....it's probably not putting enough pwr down to your card...
so info on the psu would be good... what type of MB do you have...?

of course there is. I just saw it on google. A guy had an x800PRO and was lacking cpu power and only got 30fps. He had a p4 1.8 ghz. But thanks anyway

April 20th, 2005, 11:43 AM #16Yea, first ur running on AGP4x which might drop a couple of FPS. And ur CPU is bottlenecking ur card. That means that the CPU doesnt have enough power(Ghz) to use your video card at full potential

April 20th, 2005, 01:07 PM #17odd, i know that a cpu can be a bottle neck in your pc, but an athlon 2400 isn't that much of a bottleneck... + the 6600gt shouldn't lag either way... unless your running like Doom 3 at Ultra Settings ---- 1280X1024 etc...

he said he has an old mobo. It might not be able to go all the way up to agp 8X. That might be the problem.

Bots load down you CPU and RAM. This is true. Did you turn down the bot level and CPU time? No computer can run the bots and cpu time at max.

heck i ran a 6600gt with a Sempron at 2.0 ghz and had plenty of pwr, no lags, no low frame rates...
