that computer sounds old, im sure it has a 250w or below which is well below min. But im not complety sure.
What kind of computer is it? Is it like a Dell or Gateway or something name branded or its it custom built? | my computer has no name on it.i got a gayway monitor though.i think my computer is custome built.on the power supply it says 300w.so it has 300w
ps:can some one tell me what things i need to upgrade in this computer to work that card properly in my computer?
my computer also says p4m266
inside the cpu.

Its not that the card wouldnt work, its just that your current system specs wouldnt allow the full potential of the card to be expressed.
300 watt should work, fine pushing it but its fine. 512mb u would see a huge performace increasse.
So with ur system i suggest getting a stick of 256mb ram and the 6600GT, u will see a huge increase of what u have now John, but it still wont be to its full potential cause ur system would be holding the card back.

| Well, the card should work fine as long as it gets enough power.
But to really see the benefits of the 6600GT, you'll probably need at least 512MB RAM, a P4 2GHz (or equivalent), and a good power supply. The PSU you have right now might handle the demand, but I wouldn't count on it. It's not so much the wattage of the PSU but rather that it's probably a pile of junk. A 350 watt Enermax will generally outperform a 600 watt generic PSU.

ya thanks.i will do that for now.
but for future like 3 or 4 months later if i want to get the full power of the card in my computer what things i need to upgrade?gev a full list.Cause i will not buy another card for next 2 years if i buy this card now( BFG GEFORCE 6600 GT OC AGP8X 128MB VGA DVI TV-OUT VIDEO CARD RETAIL BOX.)
i got another computer though .its alittle more advance i think.it has P4 2GHz and 512 ram but it has a pci slot(also custom made). |

If your other system has an AGP slot, I'd suggest putting the card in there. If it doesn't, I'd suggest switching the CPU and RAM between the systems. If you do that, you'll have a decent system and be able to get most of the performance out of the 6600GT. Though you might still need to upgrade the power supply. |

that would be>>
intel pentium 4
2.4GHz(something like that)
ram 256 mb
Have no idea about the power supply(lost the manual)
The geforce mx 420 card that i use on the other computer couldent fit in this computer slot(so i am guessing this computer have a pci slot)
plus i am a little confused about how i am gonna switch cpu and ram between the systems.

its a lot harder then switching parts between systems john.... each system has different slots/needs that certain things do and do not have. give us the name of your motherboard brand and model and we could get more answers
