or should i get a amd mother board plus a amd processor(cause amd will not work on my normal mother board i have now) and over clock that? | Don't ever plan for added overclock performance cause there are no guarantees in that department. Let's get you a nice stock system, then talk oc'ing down the road.
Still need to know your motherboard model to see what intel CPUs you can put in it. If you have the extra budget for an amd mobo and cpu, it would probably make a better gamer (coming from the intel guy ).

Yea, shouldn't be a problem. Get PC3200 - it should clock down on your current board and then you'll be able to get all of its performance on a new system. |

You'll have system stability problems like lockups or restarts if the psu can't handle the card. There shouldn't be any permanent damage though. |

Also, if you do start to have issues with restarts or lockups, stop using the card for the time being. It won't cause any physical damage (to my knowledge) but the harddrive's file system can easily get corrupted from erratic PC behavior, which could result in the loss of data. In that case, usually running CHKDSK can fix the problems. Though CHKDSK can cause problems of it's own.
