| Laptop LCD screen for a desktop computer?
I've notice I can get some laptop LCD screens off Ebay for pretty good prices, and I was wondering if it's possible to use them on a little ATX desktop I'm building. Assuming the screen comes with the connectors and power cables and all that, is there a way to hook them up to a ATX motherboard and powersupply? |

The connection and power cables are different. Won't work, but nice try.

So there's no way to run a laptop LCD on a desktop computer? |

I was in the same situation as you, and discovered through a lot of research, that it is very improbable and costly to attempt to convert a laptop LCD for use in a desktop.
The power is easily enough circumvented, as well as the cabling, as blue prints can be found here and there.
The problem is that the LCD is just a screen, meaning you need to have the circuitry, in addition to your video card to convert the computers signal. (I.E. controller card).
Simply put, no you can’t do it. (Unless you pay about $200 for the controller + cost of LCD for which price you might as well buy a regular LCD)

So what's the best option for having a portable screen for a little computer? short of buying an LCD or CRT monitor to lug around? |

An LCD is cheaper and easier. |

If you are looking for ultra small (14") and cheap ($129) and modifiable… I’d suggest the ProView PS482
