| GeForce 3 Ti200 versus ATI Radeon 9200SE
Hi,
Would the Raedon be worth upgrading to for someone trying to game on a tight budget? Would the extra ram and AGP 8x make a worthwhile difference?
Cheers. |

If you have a Ti200 at the moment and wonder if the 9200SE is an upgrade......in short....NO.
The 9200 by itself is already a crappy gamecard and if you take the SE version.....well, let's just say you shouldn't be suprised if you get lag during solitaire.
But seriously, the Ti200 will play games a lot better then the 9200SE id ya ask me.

ok. dont upgrade to a 9200pro, se or watever. even if it had 256mb, ram it would not make a difference. do not upgrade to a 9200. If your on a really tight budget. go for Aa 9600-9600pro or even a 9550.
a geforce 3ti will be in comparison to a 9200se. What type of games will you be running is it Dx8 or new release titles.

A 9550 can be reasonable and then I would say go for the upgrade. I had a 9000 pro which was decent, but better than a 9200se. That card you have now is pretty nice, know i personally would like it more than this 9200se pci card in my other computer.
I wasn't sure which I wanted more tho, I personally like all these brands, but the MSI one seems to be the best in terms of price and type, I looked at each and think the 9550 would be better. I dont need anything more than this currently but I want to get rid of this pci card I am using.
These prices seem decent, the lower you go you'll end up with the 9200se or something that wouldn't be a real upgrade. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...127-154&depa=1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...125-152&depa=1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...121-512&depa=1

should I upgrade from a MSI geforce3 Ti200 128mb to a Diamond Viper Radeon 9600XT 256mb? I have a Intel P4 3.20ghz on an Intel D865PERL motherboad and 512mb of PC3200 DDR on dual-channeling
I know I have a nice machine, but it's VERY SLOW when I try to play some of the newest games... I can't even play NFSU2 or Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault with graphics that are not the minimal at 1024x768 resolution!
my biggest problem is the price of a Radeon 9600 based card here in Brasil, so, what are my options despite of Radeon9600 that will give a time without having to have worries about performance and graphics quality?
thank you all for your attention,

Maybe, or you should get a GeForce 6600 or x700XT. |

Not the x700XT! Never that, it is not any good, that 9800 is better than that thing! Also i think the x700's are PCI Express only, though I never have payed any attention to the low end X series(all below the X800). I would recommend the 9600 pro($50 - $150), 6600 GT($150 - $200), X800XL($250 - $350), then the X850 XT(about $400 - $500). If you could get one of the next level up cards for $50 or less I would get the better one.
Also welcome to TECHIMO Guigamuck, and Hoobidood! |

thanks for the welcome message... a friend is about to go to US in mid june-july so I'll ask him to buy me a KICK ASS videocard... I need an AGP one and I want it to have 256MB...
I'm so furious about buying a D865PERL and a 3.20GHZ 478 processor last december... I should have waited to buy a D915 and a LGA775 processor (I used to have a Northwood Pentium IV 2.0a on an Asus P4B533 motherboard... DAMN DAMN DAMN!) |
