| TFT supports 1280 x 768, Graphics card supports 1280 x 800. Problem!
Ive just purchased the Relisys 1730 17" Widescreen TFT which has a native resolution of 1280 x 768 (16 : 9). The graphics card on my laptop, a nVidia GeForce FX5200 Go, supports a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 800.
I assumed the Graphics card would throttle down to 768, but it doesnt and the TFT gives its "out of range" message. Then the graphics card throttles all the way down to 1024 x 768 (4:3) and gives an absolutly horrid output on the TFT.
Is there anyway i can force the graphics card into displaying 1280 x 768 (This mode is not listed as being supported by windows), or is it time to start contemplating building a new computer?
Thanks in advance,
Oliver |

Go to your advanced display properties, click on the "adapter" tab and then on the button that says "list all modes" and see if its listed there.

RELISYS | touch tomorrow
You need to check your manuel for what resolutions the monitor will take and match up with what the card will do.
Second thought I just checked my 5200 card and it will support that res. Update your drivers for the card. |

Also, install your monitor drivers. Yes, believe it or not there are drivers for monitors. |

check refresh rates, right click on desktop then properties then setting then click on advance then click on monitor tab under monitor check "hide modes that monitor cannot display" then click okay.

Ok
1) I tried updating the Graphics card drivers but for some reason nVidia dont host drivers for the 'Go' series of laptops. They refered me to check the laptop manufacturers website for the drivers.
2) There are no drivers for the Graphics card hosted by my laptop manufacturer.
3) Ive installed the nVidia OmegaDrivers instead. I can now get my laptop screen to display at 1280 x 768 (even tho it is slightly messed up), but when i try to run the relisys TFT in clone mode (so it just copies the output and sends it to the relisys) it gives the 'no signal' error and reverts back to displaying at 1024 x 768 (4 : 3).
4) It just doesnt want to work lol |

Ive just tried the Relisys on my desktop which is running an nVidia 5500, and after i installed the latest nVid drivers, the Relisys ran flawlessly in 1280 x 768.
Im guessing the 5200 Go just wont take it. |

I get the same thing on my TFT with an intergrated graphics card I'm using. All I do is turn the monitor off and then turn it back on
Dunno why or how that fixes the problem, but it does.
