Help, drivers wont, now window wont

heyal,

having severe problem ....another one lol, sorry

i went to update the geforce2 mx400 latest nvidia drivers and they wouldnt install i think i screwed up first not removing all of previous files but i have since then a dozen time!

now.... windows wont load! was constantly going to boot menu and safe mode only dayuuuum!

then... if finally get it to the standard vga and it boots to windows buy with its 16 bit display. again i tried to update driver using listed methods

now when i think YYYYeeeeSSS its gonna work it goes to reboot then gets error about certain files not responding! dont that just bite my butt

then finally think its done right and starts to load windows only to hang forever...now msg** file wont respond....tried ending task and nothing reboot and same think i'm pissed! im frustrated! and i have noooo fricken idea of what to try next.

please tell me someone has the answer....i will be your best friend... ok ok but i sure could use all the help yal can offer and yal know i appreciate too.

First get rid of all the old drivers and driver residue with this.

then put these in.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_71.89.html
You can do this in safe mode, you know how to get there, tapping F8 while booting...,

I would first try a reinstall of the drivers which came supplied with the card. If those don't work, then you probably have a problem with your windows installation. Maybe a system restore would help, in that case?

d/led the one but the nvidia one is only for xp is there another one?

maybe thats what messed me up trying to install the 71.** version of drivers?

If that doesn't work, try system restore to a point where everything was working great.
