AGP 4x/8x Compatibility Issue

hey guys,

aBsolute LAST question!

i found out my motherboard is a IBM 66M2-1 and right now currenty is a INNO3D TORNADO NIVIDIA MX200 32MB AGP Card, its 2x/4x..quite sure, but i want to know if i can plug in an 8x card..i know its possible if the mobo can support 4x, but im unsure of what the max AGP transfer rates my mobo will support

i know if i find out my Video Card AGP transfer rate of 4X or 2x it will allow me to determine that if it is 4x i can use 8x, and also i know that if i findout the motherboad capacity i would also be able to know..but i cant find it anywhere

does anybody knoe the max capablities pertainin to my situation?

Blackhawk, nobody cares how many questions you have. That's what this community is for.

Check your AGP slot. Generally the 8x cards will fit a 2/4x slot. The issue is the voltage, but incompatible cards will not fit the slot. So if it fits, you should be fine. Don't get too hung up with the 8x vs 4x thing. There is not a tremendous difference in speed, all other things being equal.

i agree with osprey.. just make sure your mobo do not have issues with using older video cards, re: agp voltage
