This is so weird, this never happened before. When i play games, it heats up over 75C. But when i alt+tab, it goes down to 50C in 5 seconds. I have good case cooling and wiring. Does anyone whats the problem?

depends if ur area is hot and humid, it is summer after all. My 6600GT is hitting 52 in normal mode without nothing intensive running. It normally runs arouns 43 mark. It's real humid here in the UK. Playing CSS on it make it hit 62 and I dunno about my CPU cos that slows down the game sometimes.

My 6600GT does the same kinda thing
I have had my BFG 6600gt card for a good 4-5 months. All of a sudden when I was playing WOW (world of warcraft), my system totally locked up. I first thought nothing of it as it never happened before and every pc crashes now and again. A few days later while playing the same game it did it again. Then it started doing it more and more frequently and also started to restart my machine.
As time got on it even started doing it in CSS so I knew something was definatly wrong. I was pretty sure it was a overheating issue so I swapped the card for the same one. The new card was even worse, not only did it crash but random textures where flashing green and red colours around the screen. This did this during wow, css and an aquamark bench test. What I did notice was the the GFX cooler was different to the old one.
If I take the side panel off case AND put a massive house fan directly into case, its generally ok. Im not willing to do this all the time but It obviously all leads to cooling problems. All my other components are all ok in regards to temp and I have 5 fans in my pc FFS lol!
Ive tried loads of drivers and settings such as fast rights etc but to no avail. There seems to be a generic overheating issue with these cards. Either A much better cooler or a new card is solution. Shame cause its a bloody good card but there mainly overclocked so I guess that doesnt help. I know its really hot in the UK and my room is generally humid but this takes the micheal!
You just have to touch the card to realise its gunna fry!
Any additional suggestions??

NightRise is your card overclocked? Does it do this consistently or is it random? Also have you cleaned your fans recently? I've heard of heat issues with the 6600GT, so maybe the heat issue is finally affecting your card.
Wake up you're dead.

NightRise. Your card running at 75C is normal for that card while pushing round lots of polygons. As soon as you alt-tab, the strain is taken off. It drops down to 50 again because the core voltage drops and its not under strain. Download a prog called 'rthdribl' it runs in window mode. Run it till your card temps reaches its operating load temp. Then close it down. Your cards temp will plummet quick as ya like!

wow thx for all these replies. I fixed this problem long time ago lol.
It was another mistake made by my brother again. He reset the Fastwrite setting and the chipset. Apperently SiS chipset isnt compatibly with some graphics cards. Now i have FastWrites Off and the Chipset is set under compatibility. Thx for all ur replies.
BTW, u say 75C is pretty normal for any graphics card.... isnt that a bit hot?Live Fast, Die Young, Dont Forget, Dont Regret

That's pretty hot. But you might look into extra cooling. No one like fryed hardware.

the problem has already been explained and solved as normal temperatures for these cards. My 6800GT reaches 69C, but then again i have an NV5 attached to it
