Have you checked to see if the cooling fan on the video card is functioning properly? Did you install the lastest DirectX version 9c? |

Spontaneaous restart like you describe sounds, to me, like a weak or faulty PSU. With all good PSU's they can go bad.

That sounds like you're PSU is giving out on you.

Anouther question, did you restart your computer every time it asked you after a driver install? I have tried installing all the drivers at once without restarting, and what I got for being lazy, was games that would constantly crash, and it was just a pain in the a$$, because I had to uninstall, and reinstall all the drivers , well actually, I made a restore point right after the SP2 install, so I just rolled back to then! |

I have confirmed that the problem isn't the power supply, it's the graphics card. I've done a search on the web for this card (Aeolus PCX6600GT) and noticed that many people have the exact same problem that I have (Games crash with weird vertical lines on the screen.) I am going to get a Sparkle or Albatron/Leadtek one online soon. Thanks for the help.

Sorry to suddenly bump this, but I have replaced the card and there is a new problem now. Every time I play some games such as Halo or Half-Life 2, my screen suddenly becomes weird. Screenshot
Anyone have similar problems? It's a Leadtek 6600GT PCI-Express. thanks |

Those are artifacts that I also get when I clock my card too high, in other words, your card is either overheating or it has faulty ram on it.
Check if the heatsink/fan is making good contact with the chipset on the card.
And ofcourse check if the fan is spinning.

From what you say it could be two things.
One: Get a new power supply unit, what is your current W? is it?
Two: Your monitor cannot handle the process, Either turn your resolution down just for start up or try updating your monitor drivers, otherwise buy a new monitor. it might all be good with your graphics card but at the end of the day a TFT / CRT can only handle so much, if its old then i recommend a new monitor.
Also could you please submit your microsoft report so i can check it. |
